John Crees

John has substantial experience handling a broad range of financial services litigation matters, including contested foreclosures, default servicing, bankruptcy, and consumer finance and class action defense.

John spent his formative years in the great state of Iowa, where he cultivated an interest in the outdoors and a talent for pinball machines. After first hearing music by The Doors in middle school, he bought an electric organ and taught himself how to play. He also learned to play competitive badminton while living in the Netherlands. John is most inspired by Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Theodore Roosevelt and his dad.

Did You Know

For some reason, John likes to jump from planes.

John has biked across Iowa several times as part of an annual week-long 470 mile ride, the oldest, largest, and longest touring event in the world.

His musical tastes range from Appalachian folk to Nigerian funk to Japanese punk rock.

Three things John still wants to learn: to snowboard, make wooden furniture, and grill the perfect steak.

One of his favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein: "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."

Long before becoming a lawyer, he worked as a custom t-shirt printer, a one-hour photo developer and a video store clerk.
