Katrina Christakis

Katrina has 20 years of experience as a financial services litigator. A prolific author in the area of consumer finance, you’ve heard her speak on mortgage servicing, debt collection, and class action topics at conferences sponsored by the American Bar Association, the American Conference Institute, ACA International, the Conference on Consumer Finance Law, and other local and national industry trade groups.

The daughter of Greek immigrants, Katrina was born and raised in Washington, DC (yes, a true native) and still can’t help but refer to “National Airport.” As a girl she wanted to be a policewoman, but later decided she wanted to be a psychologist like her mother. A disappointing grade in Psych 101 changed all that—and jobs after college in public relations, social work, and law convinced her of her true calling. Her secret vice is People magazine, which of course she only indulges when she’s in a reception area.

Did You Know

Katrina’s kitchen never runs out of chocolate chips or maple syrup.

She loves horror movie trailers (the campier the better) but can’t stomach actual slasher films.

She named her dog Thelma after one of her favorite movies.

Katrina loves reading memoirs and non-fictional accounts of true events.

She can relate to Oscar Wilde, who wrote that he "spent most of the day putting in a comma and the rest of the day taking it out."

She owes her love of anthropology to the Kapauku people—and her older brother who introduced her to them.

She completed her first (and, to date, only) triathlon in 2013.

Katrina serves on the board of the Chicago Tap Theatre.

Her youngest son named the family cat Matilda, after the Roald Dahl book.
